Matt Kenseth wins Kansas Speedway STP 400

Matt Kenseth held off the hard charging Kasey Kahne at the conclusion of Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race to win the 3rd annual STP 400 at the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas.

Kasey Kahne finished second, Jimmie Johnson third, Martin Truex Jr. fourth and Clint Bowyer rounded out the top-five after 267 laps at the Kansas Speedway.

The win was the second of the season for Kenseth and his fourth top-10 finish of the 2013 season.

Matt Kenseth has now won at the Kansas Speedway twice in his career and has earned nine top-10 finishes in fifteen career races at the speedway.

There were 13 lead changes among eight drivers Sunday and there were eight cautions for 40 laps.

Jimmie Johnson entered Sunday with the points lead and leaves the Sunflower State with a 37 point lead over Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kasey Kahne.

Sunday’s 400-mile race took two hours and 59 minutes to complete.

Now the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads back to Virginia as they will race at the Richmond International Raceway under the lights next Saturday.
