Kyle Busch wins Auto Club Speedway Nationwide Series race

Kyle Busch won the 15th Annual Royal Purple 300 at the Auto Club Speedway Saturday on a sunny Southern California afternoon.

Sam Hornish Jr. finished second, Regan Smith 3rd, Parker Kligerman 4th and Austin Dillon rounded out the top-five after 150 laps at the Auto Club Speedway.

The win was the 54th of Kyle’s career, and it was his third victory and fourth top-10 finish of the 2013 season.

The victory was Kyle’s sixth at the 2.0-mile Auto Club Speedway and Joe Gibbs Racing has now won the last nine NASCAR Nationwide Series races at the Auto Club Speedway.

Busch led a race high 93 laps.

Brian Vickers, who entered the afternoon fifth in the driver points standings, blew a motor and finished a disappointing 34th, and he falls to eleventh in the points standings.

There were 4 cautions for 17 laps Saturday and there were 17 lead changes among seven drivers.

The 300-mile race took two hours and seven minutes to complete.

Sam Hornish Jr. extended his points lead to 28 markers after bringing home a second-place finish.

The NASCAR Nationwide Series now has some time off as their next race will be April 12th at the Texas Motor Speedway.
