4 Days Until The Daytona 500

We are only four days away from the start of the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. Because there are just four days until the Daytona 500, we will take a look at the history of the No. 4 car in the top-level of NASCAR.

Rex White brought the most success to the No. 4 in NASCAR as he won 26 races, earned 90 top-fives and 121 top-tens and led 3,679 laps in 168 races behind the wheel. John Sears drove the No. 4 the most in NASCAR history as he participated in 289 races with the number.

Other drivers who have driven the No. 4 include Sterling Marlin, Bobby Hamilton, Rick Wilson, Ernie Irvan, Mike Skinner, Kasey Kahne, Kevin Lepage and Mike Wallace.

Overall, the number has competed in 1,423 races in the top division of NASCAR, and in that time has visited victory lane on 45 occasions, accumulated 223 top-fives and 449 top-tens, earned 45 poles and logged 338,526 laps.

2011 happens to be the last time the No. 4 was on the track in the Sprint Cup Series as Kasey Kahne drove the Red Bull Racing machine to one victory and a fourteenth place finish in the driver standings.
