LAWLESS PRE-RACE SHOW TO FEATURE JAMEY JOHNSON CONCERT, DRIVER INTROS WITH MICHAEL BUFFER

The Lawless pre-race show for the IRWIN Tools Night Race Aug. 25 at Bristol Motor Speedway features some big names, just like the upcoming blockbuster movie.

Country music’s Jamey Johnson will perform in a pre-race concert whileMichael “Let’s Get Ready To Rumble” Buffer, will take part in driver introductions.

Lawless, billed as a “Western crime film,” is set in Virginia’s Franklin County. The movie will be in theaters the week after the IRWIN Tools Night Race on Aug. 29.

Lawless is an epic gangster tale, based on the novel The Wettest County in the World by Matt Bondurant. The film focuses on the three Bondurant brothers, Jack, played by Shia LaBeouf, Forrest, played by Tom Hardy, and Howard, played by Jason Clarke, and their bootlegging business which comes under threat in Prohibition-era Franklin County, Va.  The film and novel are based on Matt Bondurant’s grandfather and great-uncles. Lawless, which had its World Premiere at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, also stars Guy Pearce, Jessica Chastain, Gary Oldman, Mia Wasikowska and Dane DeHaan.

Buffer will add his famous voice to driver introductions, which features music chosen by each driver. A new twist this time around is that fans will determine which driver’s introduction is best by voting, via the Sprint Unlimited Text To Vote. The winning driver will receive $10,000 for his or her favorite charity.

The Grammy Award nominated Johnson is making his first trip to BMS. The country music star is set to release his latest album, “Livin’ For A Song: A Tribute to Hank Cochran” Oct. 16.

Johnson will perform for fans on the backstretch, just prior to the start of the IRWIN Tools Night Race, which goes green at 7:30 p.m.

Race week at BMS kicks off with the UNOH Perfect Storm Doubleheaderfeaturing the UNOH 200 Camping World Truck Series race, and the UNOH Perfect Storm 150 Whelen Modified Series event Aug. 22.
