The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series gets their first shot at the newly repaved Michigan International Speedway Saturday afternoon as they will race 100 laps around the fast D-shaped oval.
These trucks will be hauling around this 2-mile D-shaped oval, Michigan was already one of the fastest race tracks on the circuit and now due to the new surface it is the fastest race track on the circuit.
This track is basically a restrictor plate track without the restrictor plates , should prove very fast and interesting and hopefully safe.
Due to this being the first time the trucks have set foot on this new surface NASCAR scheduled three practice sessions on Friday for the tailgaters, Joey Coulter was fastest in two out of the three. Coulter is looking to win his second race in a row.
Qualifying will be held Saturday morning from the Irish Hills.
SPEEDtv will have the call on television, they will hit the air waves at 12:30 p.m. EDT. Rick Allen, Phil Parsons, Michael Waltrip will be in the booth, Ray Dunlap and Hermie Sadler will be on pit road. MRN will have the call on the radio side.
